I had the privilege of spending time at Big Spring Farm just as the mountain air started to slightly shift from hot summer days to a slight gentle breeze during September. The property was glowing with green hills, contained rows of stunning white hydrangeas, and overlooked a massive peaceful natural spring. I could tell it was a special hidden gem for couples looking for an experience within their wedding day. Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, and home to one of the largest natural springs in Virginia, weddings at Big Spring Farm offers something a little bit different for couples. As a North Carolina based photographer, I knew Big Spring Farm was the perfect location for couples looking for amazing destination options close by, offered scenic views in a serene place, and is a place couples feel connected to the place they chose.

Serene Wedding Days with Room to Breathe

Our morning started early as Haley was finishing hair and makeup. Upon arrival, I was greeted with vibrant green rolling hills and pops of fall leaves that were beginning to shift color. The sweet smell of fragrant white hydrangeas floated in the air as the calming sound of the spring trickled around us. The early fall sun seemed to greet the weeping willow trees as I drove in. Inside, the reception hall was teeming with activity preparing our day ahead. I remember thinking what a neat experience for couples. Next, as hair and makeup concluded, we made our way to the beautiful row of hydrangeas. Jeremy held Haley as they laughed and were so clearly in love all morning. I don’t know if it was the crisp mountain air or their laughter, but it felt relaxing as the morning kicked off.

At the heart of the property is a 150-year-old event reception hall that brings history and character into the celebration. With both heating and air conditioning, the space can comfortably host your reception through changing Virginia weather and seasons. The hall accommodates up to 150 guests seated for dinner, with room for up to 300 guests when the celebration opens up for dancing. Big Spring Farm offers more than a beautiful place to gather.
