There’s something about summer that makes it a little easier to slow down. The florals are in full bloom, the summer sun inviting, and a quiet invitation to linger a little longer in the moment. Katlyin’s Villa Mirabela bridal portrait session felt like exactly that. A chance to step away from everything that comes with a wedding and simply be present in the moment. And honestly, that’s what I love most about bridal portraits. Not aiming for perfection or being overly posed, but simply enjoying the season of becoming a wife.

One of my favorite southern traditions are bridal portraits. My “why” behing why I love them have changed over time, but Katlyin’s session reminded me why it is important to live a little more in the moment. You hear it over and over how quickly your wedding will go by. Sometimes we focus a little more on tomorrow, next steps, and the fine details of wedding planning vs living within today.
But there is so much life happening before we get there. This season matters too. A season focused on living and enjoying the process. And I think that’s part of what made this session so special to me. She wasn’t waiting for something else to happen before she let herself enjoy where she was. She was just fully herself now.
