Blooming Moments of Joy | Wake Forest Family Photography

Springtime in North Carolina is one of my favorite seasons, especially for updated family photos. Nestled on a private 20-acre family farm lies over 60,000 tulips, countryside views, and a private pond perfect for families looking to shake off the winter blues and enjoy springtime blossoms for their next Wake Forest family photography session.

The Duran’s spring family session within vibrant fields of endless tulips ranked as one of my favorites to date in 2024. Their two oldest children enjoyed the vast array of tulip colors, vintage bicycles, and the Easter Bunny. Their youngest, not quite ready to walk, was mesmerized by the whole experience and played in the flowers. After their portraits, they enjoyed time around the farm as the warm spring sun began to set.

Below are tips on how to prepare for your next Wake Forest family photography session:

  1. Location – Choosing the perfect location for your family portrait session should speak to who you are as a collective family unit.
  2. Timing – For best lighting results for your family portraits, it is recommended to avoid the middle of the day, and target 2-3 hours before sunset, or 30 minutes – 2 hours after sunrise.
  3. Coordinating Outfits – For a cohesive style without looking too “matchy”, coordinate your colors, styles, and patterns. Flowy dresses give depth and movement to your photos, and full-length pants elongate all body types. Avoid busy patterns and logos as they tend to distract the focus away from you and your family.
  4. Prepare Your Family – Take some time to ensure everyone is prepared beforehand; iron clothes, and pack any necessary items such as toys or snacks that will keep them comfortable throughout the session.
  5. Have Fun – The experience of spending quality time together as a family is the most important item of all. Embrace the season your family is in and enjoy it!
