South Carolina Outdoor Wedding Venue

Discover Ivy & Rook’s timeless South Carolina outdoor wedding at a Charleston waterfront venue.

Ivy and Rook started dating during the pandemic, and their first date consisted of FaceTime call. Their second date included walking 6 feet apart around Ivy’s neighborhood. But by their third date, they violated pandemic regulations, and spent the afternoon riding motorcycles, and enjoyed Arby’s curly fries to-go on the Ashley River walk. Rook later told me while planning Ivy’s surprise proposal, that he knew during their first river stroll that she was the one. He quickly popped the question a year later under beautiful Spanish Moss trees outside of Charleston.

When Ivy and Rook began planning for their wedding, they knew they wanted to include three important details: how they met, old southern charm, and the water. Being South Carolina natives, they knew they wanted to stay local, have a wedding that provided a mini-vacation, included great food, and have their wedding at an outdoor waterfront venue.

Ivy and Rook chose the The Lovegrove Estates, located a short drive outside of Charleston, because of the multiple outdoor wedding venue options on the property. Located on 25 acres of private grounds covered by century old classic Southern Spanish Moss trees, beautiful landscaped gardens, and surrounded by The Ashley River. It was perfect.

Outdoor Ceremonies

As an avid South Carolina weather lover, it was important to Ivy that their venue had multiple outdoor wedding ceremony location options to capitalize on the natural scenery. The Lovegrove Estates offered multiple outdoor options from the garden, riverside, oak trees, and a private forest. They even had an original well house that created unique detail shots.

Waterfront

Rook wanted to highlight their early dating days by including the water. Not only was the river the perfect outdoor wedding scenic backdrop for their venue, but it also contained a private dock and boat landing that we utilized for unique bridal portraits.

Bridal Suite

Not only did The Lovegrove Estate offer gorgeous scenic views, but provided a stunning bridal suite for getting ready, timeless bridal portraits, and southern charm. The bridal suite comes with an apartment, full kitchen (for a few mimosas and one slightly burnt homemade tostada for Ivy’s crew the morning of), powder room perfect for hair and makeup, and endless natural light for jaw dropping bridal portraits.

Porch

Another important detail to Rook was the wrap around porch. Since most of their early dating days revolved around their own personal porches, he wanted to include the same ideology in their wedding venue. There is nothing more calming and classically southern than a wrap around porch. The porch provided a classic space for timeless portraits, while also showcasing the outdoor scenery.
