Rooted in Tradition | Maggie & Jason’s Autumn Wedding Focused on Family, Legacy, and Love

Located a short distance from Charlotte, Chickadee Hill Farms is a family-owned farm & event venue rooted in family values and small town comfort. Nestled in 25-acres of rolling hills, it is the perfect wedding venue for couples looking for countryside options near Charlotte. I don’t know if it was the lavender fields, the gentle horses, or the golden autumn leaves, but Chickadee Hill Farms we nothing less than magical. Despite the fall breeze, it was warm & cozy as the sun surrounded us across the property. It was the perfect venue for Maggie & Jason’s wedding day, and I was thrilled to be able to be a part of it.

I met Maggie & Jason at a Charlotte bridal show during the early stages of their wedding planning journey. While planning, I asked Maggie & Jason what made Chickadee Hill Farms perfect for their wedding day. Maggie fell in love with the gorgeous chapel on the property, and how sweet the owners were. Being a twin herself, Maggie also connected with the history of the venue’s “little chickadee’s”. (Read more about the history of the “little chickadee’s” here) Lastly, both Jason and Maggie wanted a wedding day that was centered around faith, family, & close connections. And did it ever!!

Maggie and Jason met during the height of the pandemic during a college Christian ministry retreat. Sparks flew between them as they shared long talks during late night bonfires. After several years of dating, Jason popped the question during a surprise trip on Labor Day weekend. Maggie, an avid lover of the movie The Notebook, was gushing when Jason took her to Cypress Gardens. Floating in the iconic waterway where Noah and Allie rowed in sea of white swans, Jason asked Maggie if she would be “his Allie”!! – (I am so not crying writing that!!!!!)

Maggie & Jason’s Wedding Day | Chickadee Hill Farms

Upon arrival, I was greeted with a beautiful iron gate, greenery rolling as far as my eyes could see, and gorgeous golden towering trees. As the autumn air moved, I could smell the cozy lavender bushes and hear the sweet sounds of their horses. I remember thinking how calming it was compared to the busyness of 77! I met Maggie and her bridal party as they were having fun with hair and makeup. Not a dry eye was in the room as Maggie stepped into her mom’s repurposed wedding dress!! Meanwhile, located in the nearby suite, Jason and his crew enjoyed the morning overlooking the horses below. Special gifts were exchanged to honor Jason’s mom, and sweet pink flamingos were nestled in elements of the wedding day for her memory. Afterwards, Maggie shared a first look with her father and bridesmaids. It was the perfect start to a beautiful day.

As the morning concluded, we made our way down the beautiful all-white chapel. Golden autumn trees lined the pathway as we made our way down to the ceremony. During the ceremony, Jason set eyes on Maggie as the iron chapel doors opened. The rich glow of the sunlight surrounded everyone as they said their vows. When the ceremony ended, Maggie & Jason shared a celebratory wedding bell ring before heading off to family portraits. Afterwards, as the summer sun shifted, we explored the grounds for their portraits. The calming sunset ended our night before enjoying their reception.

Maggie & Jason’s Reception | Chickadee Hill Farms

Following cocktail hour, we headed to the stunning reception area for dinner inside the barn. During knee sweet toasts, Maggie & Jason rolled in tears from uncontrollable laughter & sweet mentionables. Afterwards, Maggie shared a beautiful choreographed dance with her father, a fun garter toss, cake cutting, and finally a sparkler exit. Together with friends and family, everyone hit the dance floor as the celebration continued. It was a special night for all!
