Located a short distance from Asheville, The Vineyard at High Holly is a cozy venue for couples looking for the perfect destination wedding. Nestled in luscious greenery on the Highland Plateau, it is the perfect location for couples along North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. I don’t know if it was the mountain air, or the sweet smell of grapes growing in the vineyard, but from the moment we arrived on site it felt like home. Despite the summer sun, it was cool and comfortable surrounded by green mountainous overlooks. It was the perfect venue for Reagan and Evan’s wedding day, and I was beyond excited to be able to be a part of it.
Early in the planning process, I asked Reagan and Evan what made The Vineyard at High Holly perfect for their wedding day. It was important to have a venue that was conveniently located for friends and family, as they are spread out over the South East. Another top priority was stunning views, a relaxing atmosphere, and it was very important to have a place that wasn’t hot haha!! (Which I totally understand because those North Carolina summers can be brutal!) And oh boy did the vineyard deliver!!
Upon arrival, I was greeted with endless rows of grape vines, greenery, & towering mountains. I remember thinking this is exactly why the Blue Ridge Mountains are so iconic. I met Reagan and her bridal party as they were having fun with hair and makeup. Full of southern charm and overlooking the vineyard below, The Farmhouse was a timeless getting ready area. Meanwhile, down a short gravel road, Evan and his crew enjoyed bbq as they hung out. I remember thinking what a perfect Saturday it was with blue skies overhead. While Reagan’s mom and grandmother helped her into her dress, the mountains seemed to lean in towards her. Thereafter, Reagan enjoyed a special moment with her father. The only sounds that could be heard were the sweet tears of her bridesmaids around the way.
As the morning concluded, we made our way down the mountainside. A stone pathway paved the way down a jaw-dropping view of the vineyard. During the ceremony, Evan set eyes on Reagan as she made her way across the rolling hills. The rich glow of the sunlight surrounded everyone as they said their vows. When the ceremony ended, Reagan shared a special Face-Time with her brother, who was on active duty in the military. Afterwards, as the summer sun shifted, we explored the grounds for their portraits. The calming sound of summer crickets echoed in the trees above us.
Following cocktail hour, we headed to the stunning reception area for dinner. During knee slapping toasts, Reagan and Evan rolled in tears from uncontrollable laughter. During the final moments of sunlight, we grabbed a few more portraits. Afterwards, Reagan and Evan shared dances with their parents, a hysterical garter toss, and sparklers. To everyone’s surprise, Evan surprised his grandmother with a cake to celebrate her 80th birthday that coincided with their wedding day. Together with friends and family, everyone hit the dance floor as the celebration continued. It was a special night for all!
