The early morning spring sunshine wrapping around the most iconic DC monuments is truly a beautiful site to experience. And coming from a Washington DC wedding photographer, it is certainly a must on a to-do list when visiting DC. You’ll be able to see what I’m talking about as you scroll through Stacy and Dustin’s session near sunrise.
I met Stacy and Dustin on a warm spring morning near a Smithsonian castle in the heart of DC. A little unknown secret about the Smithsonian Gardens is that it is known as the “museum without walls”, as it extends over 180 acres of outdoor gardens. DC offers ample of opportunities for engagement photos, but it was a no-brainer for Stacy and Dustin’s session on a calm Sunday morning after cherry blossom season. While we made our way through rows of vibrant tulips, we discussed their upcoming trip to Asia and how nice a vacation will be for them both. Next, we made our way down several winding pathways near a quiet pond where cute ducks joined in a few photos. After our time in the garden, we headed down to a serene location overlooking the Washington Monument.
As we walked across the glowing green field in front of the monument, you could feel the energy of DC come alive. To our left stood the Washington Monument, and to our right the Capital Building. It is one of my personal favorite aspects of DC – the mix of countryside bliss surrounded by the buzzing of this powerful city. It was truly one of the books and a joy to be with Stacy and Dustin on a beautiful morning.
